Nick’s Friday Round-Up

In movies, there's a thing called "foreshadowing". This is when a movie shows you something early in the movie, seemingly for no reason, so when it happens again later in the movie, it makes sense. Sometimes it's in your face, while other times it's tiny clues that you can completely miss. Here are 5 examples. [cracked]

Someone built a full-scale X-Wing Figher... out of 5 million LEGOs. [blastr]

A father/son team put together a full-size arcade in their basement. I wouldn't even consider doing this. The main reason being that my basement is filled with spiders, and there's no way I'm going down there. [geekologie]

There has always been a battle between the Star Wars fandom and the Trekkies. With that said, you should watch this video. Death Star vs Enterprise. [blastr]

Ever wondered to yourself what Batman and Superman would smell like? Well wonder no more. You can purchase their cologne. I'm serious... [geekologie]

A big part of selling a videogame is the cover art. Some are amazing, while others are definitely something to be desired. Here are the 20 worst videogame covers of all time. [dorkly]

There are some games out there that people have played for so long, that they don't realize some of the rules they're using aren't officially rules at all. However, these rules do tend to make THE GAME more fun. Case in point... [cracked]

When you're too lazy to walk to your xbox to switch out the game disc, you build a 32 disc changing carousel out of LEGOs. Me... I just use the force. [geekologie]

Someone finally did it. They made a real-life fire-breathing Super Mario Bros. Piranha Plant. I'm not jumping over that. I value my sun-deprived skin. [geekosystem]

There've been many Legend of Zelda games throughout the franchise, but which are the best ones? Here are the top 10. [dorkly]

You know when you purchase a new laptop, you get it home, fire it up, and there's tons and tons of crap already installed on it? Yeah... people are actually paid to slow your laptop down, on purpose, with all that stuff. [howtogeek]

Want to feel really dumb and have your geek-cred go down -5 points? This 4 year old girl knows more about comics than you do. [blastr]

Remember back in the day when they had a show called MTV Cribs? Mix that with some weightlessness and you've got awesomesauce all over the place. Here's a tour of the International Space Station in the style of MTV Cribs. [howtogeek]

Some people are too smart and creative for their own good. This dude altered an oldschool Game Boy to where he can mount his Android phone onto it, and use the Game Boy as a game app controller. [geekosystem]

A dude goes through fast food drive-thru's disguised as the driver seat. MAJOR lulz ensue. [geekologie]

Sometimes games getting cancelled before being released is a good thing, sometimes not. Either way, what happened has happened.  Here are 10 of the greatest cancelled projects in videogame history. [dorkly]

Want to play ice cube Tetris in your water glass? WE ALL DO! Although, I'm not sure how you're gonna get all that ice in one little glass, but that's not the point. The point is that there's a DIY on how to make your own Tetris ice cube molds. [howtogeek]

You don't have to be a card player to need these. Official Legend of Zelda playing cards. [geekologie]

If you haven't yet seen the trailer for Pacific Rim, you should totally go watch it. You may notice a familiar voice in the trailer. Yep, that's the voice of GLaDOS from Portal, but only in the trailer. The voice will be a bit different for the actual movie. [kotaku]

Playing video games makes you a better employee. More specifically... hardcore WoW players make better employees. YEP! This is true. [blastr]

2012 is over and it's time for another year of videogames. Here are a few lessons that game developers can learn from 2012 gaming. [gammasquad]

LEGO: Marvel Super Heroes is coming this fall! If it's anything like LEGO Batman 2, then it's definitely a must buy. [warpzoned]

Also, don't forget to check out my Minecraft series on Youtube. Yes, this is shameless self promotion. I can live with that. [youtube]

Most of the time, when you play video games, you don't think twice about defeating a level boss. Next time, sit back and think about who it is you're defeating, because they just might be the victim, and not the villain. [cracked]

I'M BATMAN! Ok, so I wasn't Batman in this particular instance. Batman was arrested... again... for, basically, being dressed as Batman, and refusing to leave a crime scene. [blastr]

Who doesn't enjoy a good easter egg in a video game? Every once in a while you'll get a celebrity appearance or two. Sometimes, they're cool, but other times it's just down right weird. [dorkly]

I shall finish out this weeks round-up with a super-insane Rube Goldberg machine, parkour style!  [gammasquad]

No Blizzcon in 2012 [geekosystem]
If Fringe is canceled it could continue on through another medium [blastr]
Microsoft could be phasing out Microsoft Points by the end of 2012 [geekosystem]

Ever played Duck Hunt and just wanted to go at it with a machine gun? (sidenote: I wanted to shoot the living brains out of that laughing dog.) Well, sorry, you can't do that, BUT, you can watch a video of Bill "Mad Dog" Rizer from Contra do it, as well as a bunch of other video-game mash-ups. [youtube]

Who didn't play the original Command and Conquer? Anybody?  Anybody at all? Good. Well why not take yourself back to the 90s and play it again, but this time in your browser. It's not finished, but you can still play it in it's current state. [howtogeek]

OMG, ADORBZ OF THE DAY: A baby reacts to hearing a new sound. [buzzfeed]

On a final note, you should all go to Lisa's Facebook, or tweet her @LisaFoiles, and tell her Thank you, and how much you appreciate her. There are a few different writers for this website, but without Lisa, none of us would be able to entertain you, throughout the week, here on Save Point. She personally pays for the hosting of this website herself, and cares about getting information out to all of you and making you all laugh, whether it's through us, or doing it herself. So go tell her thank you. Tell her how much you appreciate her. Tell her how much she entertained you as a kid, on All That. Tell her your favorite, All That, character of hers. Tell her how much you enjoyed watching her take one for the team in a chili bath. She did it all for you guys, to make you laugh. She's an amazing person and she deserves to know that all her work and effort is very much appreciated.

Nick’s Friday Round-Up: BLOW… YOUR… MIND… EDITION

That was your mind, and that's the little girl who doesn't give two flying flips about it. Nick's Round-Up for Friday the 13th has begun. I'm gonna start of small and build up to the mind explosion. Let us commence.

I'll begin with something food-related. I'm actually a pretty good cook. Especially when it comes to baking. I've never had any training, so for any of us in the same boat, we tend to believe some things about cooking that are actually lies, ALL LIES!! Here are 9 ridiculous cooking myths that most of you probably thought to be truths. HAHA, SUCKERS! Oh wait... I have to admit, believed a couple of them. Maybe now, Lisa will be able to cook something besides cereal... Probably not. [cracked]

Here's a bit of nostalgia. I remember growing up, waking up early every Saturday to watch cartoons. When Saturday-morning cartoons were GOOD. Not like the crap they show today. Here are some cartoons from the 1990's that we want back, and that today's generation could benefit from. Maybe they'll actually grow some brain cells back that they've lost from the complete stupidity of today's cartoons.[ugo]

I'm not one to ever have any kind of interest in makeup, but this particular line actually caught my eye. A new brand called Fotoshop by Adobé. Remove wrinkles with a swipe of the brush. Lose those 40 extra pounds and reshape your body without the mess of surgery. It also works for men, animals, landscapes, and pretty much whatever you want to change. Check it out. Fotoshop by Adobé [vimeo]

Google Maps has given us a few lulz now and then with things they've captured as they've intrusively driven down our streets, taking pictures. Some of the things they've caught, they've actually had to blur out. This instance, as of yesterday, was not blurred. Sadly I just now checked it, and they blurred it. GRRRR. However, you can still see it, even with the blur.  Just click on the blur. The blur is a woman walking. You won't be disappoint. [google maps] UPDATE: I found a website that saved the original pictures. Now you can fully enjoy the lulz! [flowerpoop]

As you all know, I love Skyrim. If you haven't figured that out by now, well then, apparently you don't read my Round-Ups very often, which is your own loss. Have you ever thought to yourself, "I wonder what Skyrim would be like in the present day?" Well, the good people at GroBroPros, on youtube, have created a video of that very thing. Here is SKYRIM 2012 [youtube]

You remember watching The Street Fighter series, right? Well our good pals at TheGameStation have created a new video spoof of the show Pawn Stars, creatively called, PWN Stars. If you don't laugh during this video, you've either never watched Pawn Stars, or never played any Legend of Zelda games. In either case, you're dead to me. [youtube]

I've been holding on to this link for the past few weeks. Since before Christmas. I believe now is the time to post it to you. A company in France has developed a special lighting display called CT Light Concept. Basically, it's able to project a 3D-style lighting display onto buildings, and thus opening new areas of awesome! Let the mind-blowing begin! [gammasquad]

If you've ever been to NYC or LA or Vancouver, or well, basically any big city with a good source of tourism, then you've seen a busker or two. a.k.a. street performer. I've seen people with some pretty amazing talents, but NOTHING quite like this. This guy absolutely blows me away. Apparently he didn't listen when his mom told him not to finger-paint on the walls, and it's a good thing he didn't. Whenever I finger-paint, it comes out looking like this. Whatever... I suck. Just watch the video. [youtube]

Here ya go. You can thank me later. [b3ta]

AND NOW... THE MOST EPIC THING YOU WILL EVER SEE, EVER! EVER! I tried to prepare you for this a couple days ago. I honestly don't think there's enough time to be able to train yourself to handle something this awesomazing. Maybe a mute monk up in the mountains of somewhere, with 50 years of training, but other than that, no. I am not responsible for anything that may happen to you during the viewing of this video. You can't say I didn't warn you. Lisa, if there's one thing you click on in all my Round-Ups, this would be the thing. [youtube]
