You know at one point or another in your life, you've come across a Highlights magazine; whether in a waiting room, or you actually had a subscription to the magazine as a child. Nick’s Friday Round-Up: Let Me Tell You a Story Edition
Welcome! Friday is here, once again. It seems like I JUST got done typing the last one up. Geez! So, OK, this week I've been playing the crap out of Minecraft. I discovered the YOGBOX, and Singleplayer has been turned from a rather boring way to play, to an amazing way to play. I definitely recommend playing the YOGBOX if you're any kind of a fan of Minecraft. [YOGBOX] Awesome, let's get started.
I think I will begin the Round-Up, this week, with a story. A story of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It begins with a very well known and beloved rag-tag gang of ninja turtles, who entered our lives in the 90s with an amazing cartoon show. Following the cartoon were 3 live-action films. Followed by other cartoon adaptations of the series, as well as a CGI movie. All of which have retained the very root of what makes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
It is now present day. We hear the announcement that the live-action movies are being rebooted. Fangirls and Fanboys everywhere become cautiously excited. Enter Michael Bay as the director. He announces that these Ninja Turtles will not be mutants in his movie, but aliens. Fanboys and girls everywhere nearly riot in the streets. Flipping over cars, breaking out store windows, sending stern letters. A voice actor from the original live-action movies speaks out about his feelings towards this decision. The cry is loud, and deafening. People from all over the world are speaking out. These cries are heard by Michael Bay, and yet, his reply is, "Take a chill pill." To add to the salt in the wound by Michael Bay, one of the co-creators of the Ninja Turtles speaks out in Michael Bay's defense in this mutant to alien decision. So far we've been wounded, we've had salt thrown in it, and now, as we sit there licking the wound, a wild bunny appears. Awwww, how cute, but as it turns out, this is a werewolf bunny! Yes... yes... a werewolf bunny, that tears into our wound and leaves us with nothing but a nub for an arm, because this werewolf bunny turns out to be the OTHER co-creator of the Ninja Turtles, giving his support for Michael Bay's decision. As we lay twitching on the ground in pain and disgust, our body jerks real hard, our eyes open, and we realize this werewolf bunny wasn't real, but only a dream. We look down at our arm, and see it's still there, but the wound is still pretty bad. We look to the side and see a little bunny hopping about. "OH NO!" we exclaim to ourselves, as we remember our dream. Fortunately this bunny is just a cute bunny who seems to have been misunderstood.
And this, my friends, is where the story resides. Only the future will tell what's in store, and we can only take guesses as to the outcome. Time will tell if these beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will become the Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles, or, as the Nostalgia Critic thinks... Michael Bay's Racist Alien Big Boobied Explosions.
How do I follow up an AMAZING story like that, you ask? With LASERS!

Nick’s Friday Round-Up: It’ll Rock Your Face Off, but Only at First Edition
This morning I got woken up by a ton of banging downstairs. When I was finally able to open my eyes and get up, I met my dad in the hallway. It turns out a giant grey squirrel got in the house and my cat was chasing it all over the place. The squirrel got upstairs and ran across my dad while he was laying in bed, followed by my cat. Long story short, my dad was able to open the window and let the squirrel run out. My cat almost followed, but managed to stop before jumping out the second story window. COOL STORY, BRO!
This week has been pretty lackluster with interesting links and stories to post about, with a couple exceptions, so you're just going to have to live with the stuff I give you!

Nick’s Friday Round-Up: Seriously, It’s Not as Awesome as Last Weeks Edition
From top-center going clockwise. Daria Morgendorffer, Susan and Mary Test, Velma Dinkley, Dexter, Edd, Nigel Uno, and Jimmy Neutron. My question is, where's Lisa? There needs to be a Lisa Foiles cartoon. I mean, who WOULDN'T watch that? AMIRITE?!? She could be one of those cartoon characters with the huge eyes, like an anime girl, or Rapunzel from Tangled. I mean, it makes sense. Lisa's got some freakishly big eyes. inb4sheseeswhatididhere.... too late.
Let me start by saying, DO NOT have any expectations that this week's round-up is going to even come close to comparing with last week's. I will disappoint you right now and say that it isn't. This week is a fresh start with awesome levels at "normal". With that said, let us proceed.
If you've ever been a kid, you know that breaking a limb or two comes with the package, at least for most of us. I, myself, broke my upper left arm when I was about 3 years old. In 5th grade I fractured my left wrist. Two weeks later, I fell, popping it out of place, and fracturing it again in the same spot. Fortunately I'm right handed, and this didn't effect me when it came to writing and all that good stuff. MY POINT IS... studies prove that if you break your dominant limb, your brain starts to rewire itself, literally. One side of your brain goes anorexic while the other side starts doing squat thrusts, but don't take my word for it. [geekosystem]

It's almost been a month since the Doctor Who Christmas special. Sadly we're going to have to wait until the fall for season 7 to begin, but fret not! There have been hints that season 7 might go on a bit longer than the traditional 14 episodes of the past. [blastr]
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE FRINGE, almost as much as I love Doctor Who. Actually... I like them about the same. Too much talk of "awesome" in one sentence, let me move on. This season of Fringe has taken an odd turn, placing Pacey Peter into an alternate timeline that is not his own. A lot of fans are disappoint, thinking the writers are taking them on a lulzy ride for no reason. Turns out, there's good reason for this particular storyline arc, with promises of a big payoff. We all love our favorite movie/cartoon/comic characters. We love to see them always taking down the "big bad", even when it gets repetitive. Basically different storyline, same story, but we still love it, however, did you ever stop to think about how the characters feel about this? Here are some characters that should be fed up by now.
