Nick’s Friday Round-Up

What happens when you give somebody 150,000 LEGOs? A HUGE MESS! Oh wait... that's if you give them to me. If you give them to some much more creative people, you get a recreation of the Battle of Helm's Deep. [gammasquad]

Ok, what if you give someone a bunch of multi-colored twistie-ties? Once again, if you give them to me, all you're gonna get is a bunch of spiral shapes because I wrapped them around my fingers. If you give them to someone else, you get twistie-tie sculptures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. [geekologie]

As of about a week ago I FINALLY beat Dead Space. Yes, the very first one. So I find this fitting that someone built an IRL burning Dead Space plasma cutter. [geekologie]

Hooray for Microsoft making a smart move! The next-gen XBOX will NOT require you to always be connected in order to play singleplayer games. [geekosystem]

MORE HOMEMADE STUFF!! Someone made an 80,000 volt Thor's Hammer. [geekologie]

If you've never played Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on Gamecube, I HIGHLY recommend you go play it. With that said, there's plans to make a "sequal"/"successor" game for it. A lot of people don't want this to happen for one reason or another, but I, for one, welcome it. [gamesradar]

For those who were looking forward to Jurassic Park 4, especially since the 3D release of the original, then I'm sorry to let the wind out of your sails, but Jurassic Park 4 has been put on hold. [gammasquad]

Time travel seems like it would be an amazing experience if it were possible. Just look at all the adventures from Doctor Who and Marty McFly. Most people don't consider the annoyances and frustrations that time travel might actually cause. [blastr]

In really stupid news, Disney has hired EA to create Star Wars games. Seriously, Disney? Seriously? [gammasquad]

So you think you're a true Star Wars nerd? Test your knowledge with these 7 terms from Star Wars that don't mean what you think they  mean. [dorkly]

When it comes to movies in 3D, you either like it or hate it, but there are some video game franchises out there that could really benefit from a 3D CGI movie release. [gammasquad]

I love me some oldschool Disney games. Here are 5 classic Disney games that need to be remade, and some that don't. [gammasquad]

Nick’s Friday Round-Up: Awesome Videos Edition

The first video today is Toy Story. I know you're asking, "Toy Story? What's so great about that?" My reply is, "This is the entire Toy Story movie, re-created, shot-for-shot, with real toys." Enjoy! [geekologie]

Next on the list, we have a live action, Sonic the Hedgehog fan-film. And to add that extra little bit of awesome, they got Jaleel White to voice Sonic. [howtogeek]

This is a stop motion video, in Minecraft, that shows the building of a house. Trust me, it's WAY more amazing than it sounds. If you're any kind of fan of Minecraft, you can appreciate all the work that went into making this video. Even using creative mode, this still would have taken an extremely long time. [howtogeek]

Making a snowman is always a fun thing to do during the winter, but how about destroying them? Here are 10 ways to destroy a snowman... in slow motion. [youtube]

Even the most simple tasks, like clipping your fingernails, becomes over complicated in outer space. [youtube]

In the past, I posted a picture of the TARDIS from Doctor Who mashed up to look like the DeLoreon from Back to the Future. Well it seems someone took that concept and made a short animated video of it. Doctor Who in the world of Back to the Future. [howtogeek]

And to end out the awesome videos, I have a Buffy/Twilight video mashup. Buffy meets Edward. Edward stalks Buffy. Buffy kills Edward. Sounds good to me! [blastr]

This ends our awesome videos section of the Round-Up. BUT WAIT! I still have a few more links for you.

Duck Hunt 2. Need I say more? Get to shooting those ducks! Also, the dog isn't as annoying. In fact, he's pretty cool this time around. [howtogeek]

If you happen to be visiting China, you should check out their new bootlegged World of Warcraft theme park, called Joyland World. Seems legit. [geekologie]

Speaking of World of Warcraft, it looks as if WoW players have broken the fundraising record for hurricane Sandy relief. Who said gamers are lazy and don't care about real life stuff. [geekosystem]

So.... Myspace is back and all rebooted and everything. [geekosystem]

There's now a possibility that we could get a live-action star wars series on ABC. Ya know... with Disney owning Star Wars and all that... [blastr]

Nick’s Friday Round-Up

What is it with the world, all the sudden, developing a butt-ton of freakishly scary robots? We got the robot that can run like a cheetah, a robot that can make it's way over crazy rough terrain, the humanish shaped robot that can traverse it's way across crazy obstacles, and now we have a knife-wielding robot that can cut a cucumber paper thin, not to mention, stab you in the neck when you're not looking... or even if you are looking. [geekologie]

We can add to that robot takeover with the most advanced prosthetic arm to date. Seriously, folks, there's no way Skynet isn't here making these things. [geekologie]

One of the unseen, but definitely not unheard characters in video games are the radio hosts. You'll be trotting along, leveling up, happily listening to that radio station that you somehow have programmed into a piece of something connected to you. It comes out of nowhere people, and it's kinda creepy. ANYWAY, here are the top 10 greatest radio hosts in videogame history. [dorkly]

This is not one of the coolest rides you can have, but it's better than nothing, especially all pimped out in an R2-D2 theme. [geekologie]

And what an awesome segue that was into my next topic. Harrison Ford is totally open to coming back as Han Solo for the new Star Wars movie. [gammasquad]

So is Carrie Fisher! [blastr]

Are you tired of the daunting task of separating your skittles into different colors, because, well, you just despise those green ones? Well daunt no more! You can have your very own, personal, automatic skittle sorter. [geekologie]

Speaking of candy, a lot of you love gummi stuff. Bears, worms, robots, the list goes on, but how about a gummi python. YEP, you read that right, a ginormous snake made of gummi stuffs. [geekologie]

What are you going to store that gummi snake in? Cuz you know there's no way you're eating that in one sitting. Well how about a $45,000 refrigerator? All I'm saying is it better, as heck, better make me breakfast and serve it to me in bed. [geekologie]

Who wants some super adorbz of the day, with a hefty dose of "awesome" thrown in? YOU ALL DO! I present to you, Dragon Baby! [gammasquad]

One thing we haven't heard about in a while is Elder Scrolls Online. We got a tiny teaser trailer a while ago, but that's about it. However, now they decide to just throw a hefty update into our laps and expect us to absorb it all. OK, I THINK I WILL! [gammasquad]

Also, for good measure, let's throw in this link. Obsidian's Project Eternity is now, officially, the most funded game on Kickstarter. [geekosystem]

Do you all remember that Assassin's Creed Parkour video I showed you a few weeks back? Well they're at it again, Assassin's Creed III style. AWWW YEAH! [youtube]

So this guy re-paints realistic faces on semi to very crappily made movie character dolls/figurines/action figures, whatever you want to call them, and they are surprisingly good. Like... really surprisingly good. [geekologie]

Zombie movies come out of the woodwork like a hefty dose of termites, but once in a while, a gem will appear. A zombie movie like no other. A comedy zombie romance. That's right, you read correctly. A zombie falls in love with a human. Stop being so jaded and cynical and just freakin' watch the trailer. [gammasquad]

Nick’s Friday Round-Up

Let's go ahead and get it out of the way. Unless you've been living in a galaxy far far away, or under the sea, then you've heard about Disney buying LucasFilms. Now let's see how Darth Vader feels about this. [geekosystem]

Now let's see how Mark Hamill feels about this. [blastr]

Finally, what's George Lucas plan on doing with the 4 BILLION dollars he got from the sale? [geekosystem]

You know how some nights you'll be looking outside and see the moon, and you're like, "HOLY CRAP, THAT MOON IS HUUUUUUGE TONIGHT!!" Well guess what. It's no bigger than it looks at any other time of night. It's all an illusion. [geekosystem]

If your geek level isn't as high as you'd like it to be, you can always make Portal Companion Ice Cubes. You'll be the hit at your next geek gathering. It'll definitely add a +5 to your latest cosplay party. [geekologie]

What if Minecraft was the Matrix. MAYBE IT IS! [howtogeek]

Most games are pretty balanced when it comes to weaponry, however, there are those few games that give you a ridiculously overpowered weapon. This is super fun unless you're that one guy who uses it in some sort of multiplayer online match. Then you're just "that guy" who everybody hates. Here are 15 of the most overpowered weapons in videogame history. [dorkly]

Something we all have to bear through on any flight is the safety video, or if you're not even that lucky, the flight staff speaking over the intercom. I think every airline should take a tip from New Zealand and show a Hobbit themed video. Seriously, what's the downside? [geekologie]

What does every boy and girl want for Christmas? A fully functioning Fallout Pipboy! Because we all need V.A.T.S in our lives! [geekologie]

Speaking of fully functioning, here's a fully interactive Tetris Jack-O'-Lantern. [howtogeek]

A TACO CANNON! [gammasquad]

Back in the 90s there was this little game called Wolfenstein. You may or may not remember it.... Well guess what movie is currently in the works. [blastr]

And by "perfect pancake" I mean when you flip it over and it doesn't break. Well allow this guy to completely show you up. Enjoy some amazing pancake art. [geekologie]

It's Friday. Friday. Gotta post a sequel on Friday. Do you see where I'm going with this? *insert trollface* The "Poor man's Usher" has released an official sequel to the song "Friday". If you were looking forward to some Rebecca Black, I'm sorry to disappoint. It's just fake Usher. BUT... it's actually a pretty funny video. [geekosystem]

Unless you're one of the 7 people in the world who've been on a journey to deliver some kind of ring to a volcano, just so you can melt it down for scrap, then you know the Avenger's movie came out last week. If you've seen the movie, then you know that, *MINI-SPOILER* the city gets smashed up pretty bad. *END MINI-SPOILER* Of course you're thinking to yourself, "What if you were to calculate the damages and put them into an actual monetary value? What would it cost to repair everything?" Well wonder no more. [blastr]

For those of you who follow Lisa on twitter, then you know she steals potential content for my Round-Ups and links them to her followers. I'm pretty sure she does it just to spite me, but ya know what. I DON'T CARE. I'm gonna link it anyway. HAH! IN YOUR FACE LISA FOILES! Now everybody go watch this video of a guy playing the Tetris theme on a laser harp. Yes... a laser harp. [geekologie]

Everybody at one time in their life has watched Star Wars and thought to themselves how they would just love to be frozen in carbonite. Well your dream has come true! For the low low cost of $100 and a trip to a Disney theme park, you can make this dream a reality. Sort-of... [buzzfeed]

QUICK, name 2 things that we all love, and can't believe haven't been combined yet! If you guessed Cheez Whiz and socks.... something is clearly wrong with you. If you guess R2-D2 and coffee... DING DING DING, YOU WIN! [geekologie]

(True story. I bought two laundry baskets. One for clean clothes. One for dirty clothes.)

Computer case modding has been a thing for quite a while. Screw you, iPad! I've seen some insane case mods, but once in a great while you run across one that completely wins the internet. This one has done that such thing. An AT-AT case mod, for your viewing pleasure. [geekosystem]

We have SO MANY videogames these days with so many genres. Some of them are amazing, while most of them are forgotten about. Even the great games could be made even better with a few tweaks. Here are 6 of the greatest video games we'll never get to play. Or maybe we could... Kickstarter anyone? [cracked]

Those crazy people down at Ubisoft have finally released an actual gameplay trailer for Assassin's Creed 3. I'm totally feeling this. Seriously... a bear. You get to fight a bear. If they're anything like the bears in Skyrim, then this is some SRS BSNS! [joystiq]

Speaking of Skyrim... I haven't talked about that in quite a while. Remember back in the day when I posted about that every week? Ah, yes... those were the days. Ok, so how about this. An Alduin dragon Skyrim cake. Legit baking skills are legit. [geekologie]

Speaking of Skyrim... Guess what's being developed into an MMO? The Elder Scrolls! It's been a long time coming, but we finally have a sneak peak. The Elder Scrolls Online teaser. [youtube]

You know when you get that urge to play Wolfenstein 3D, and you have to break out the 3 1/2" Floppy disks? Well, you can throw those disks away! Wait... you already have? What do you mean "what's a 3 1/2" Floppy disk?" You know what... screw you guys. Go play the game in your browser for free. [geekosystem]

This right here is something that NEEDS to be mass produced. A homemade RC Transformer. Not only is it RC'd as a vehicle, but it transforms, and can be completely controlled in it's robot form. It transforms without help, and doesn't fall over. TAKE MY MONEY NOW! [geekologie]

To finish it off, here's a guy who legally changed his name to Tyrannosaurus Rex. [geekosystem]
