Music Mondays: New Daft Punk Album OMG
So, contrary to popular belief, I'm not dead. Sorry to disappoint anyone. But I'm hyper geeking out now. So I've been in a re-kick into Daft Punk recently, but rarely am I not in a kick for Daft Punk, since they announced their 4th studio album titled "Random Access Memories" will come out May 21st. I mean, with teasers like this shown on SNL of all places, how can I not get stoked?
But there's something huge that's just starting to break. It seems possible that a track from this brand new album has already gotten leaked. It definitely sounds like their work and it's already been said that there will be some great collaborations on this album, bringing in the likes of Paul Williams, Giorgio Moroder (producer for Donna Summer and David Bowie among others), and Chic's Nile Rodgers (guitarist, "Le Freak"). Could this be one of those collaborations? Whatever it is, it's an amazing track. Everyone, you have to listen to this and spread it around. Spread it everywhere on the internet. Trust me. It doesn't let me down at all.

Music Monday: Space Jam Style
Say what you will about Psy's Gangnam Style, it is now the number 1 watched video on YouTube, beating out the Bieber's Baby. It's quickly on track of having one billion views. Honestly, outside of a resurgence of Never Gonna Give You Up or a song famous for being atrocious, I would equate this to being one of the first ultra hits, even if it's a one hit wonder, created first on the Internet as a psudo-meme into mainstream hit charts, though for me Gangnam Style will always be associated with this. So, with this mash up, let's take the meme levels, throw them to 11 and rip off the knob. Come on and slam and welcome to the jam everyone. BTW: This mash is actually extremely easy because Space Jam and Gangnam Style are in the same key and have the same BPM. Somewhere, Randy Savage is smiling.

Music Monday: Pinball Wizardry by DJ Cutman
One thing y'all may not know about me is that I'm a pretty big pinball fan. So much so that probably my most played games on my PS3 is Zen Studios' Zen Pinball 2 and FarSight Studios' Pinball Arcade (can't wait for Twilight Zone on the latter of those! Just need to add The Addams Family and I will be set.). It was one of those things I grew up with and something I very much miss with the mostly death of the arcades. The fact that there is only one pinball manufacturer left in the industry, Stern Pinball, is still something very sad to me, though it's better than none I guess. So this week's musical entry blends two things I enjoy: pinball and DJ Cutman. Recently, Cutman did a pinball charity event up in NYC in which he did an entire mix of pinball music. You rarely hear mixes from pinball tracks, so this is something really rare and pretty darn awesome as such. Included in the mix are tracks from The Machine: Bride of Pinbot, Funhouse, Fish Tales, The Addams Family (Including my favorite song in pinball history The Mamushka), and Elvira and the Party Monsters, among so many others. Of course, Sonic Spinball is in there too because slight trolling. The track is also released on DJ Cutman's awesome GameChops digital label, which is also worth checking out.

Music Monday: Moon Trance by Lindsey Stirling
So usually I have some sort of chiptune or high energy gaming influenced house track or something like that here. Not this week. Well, it's still high energy, but not as much house. Getting classy here because I'm bringing the violin! Lindsey Stirling has been a long time violinist and YouTuber who's only made her first album release this past September, but is already has a pretty huge following through social media and other stuffs due to her unique violin styles, unexpected covers, and dance. And for the guys, and some girls because why be specific, because she's also immensely cute. For Halloween week, I found it only fitting to do the part of Halloween that no one ever has gotten sick of: zombies. Specifically thriller zombies.

Music Monday: Ginger Quest 64 Preview by Storm Blooper
So this one is just a preview, but I'm already hooked. Apparently, this is the first time this artist has written a 2xLSDJ song, but it's certainly solid enough for me. I'm totally loving this. Use this when you're questing for gingers on your own. Besides, his name is Storm Blooper. That's just an amazing image at that. They certainly needed some of those on Naboo.

Music Monday: Tom’s Dog (asdfmovie5 Theme) by The Living Tombstone
So usually my Music Mondays are a chiptune showcase, but I've been feeling kind of down and sad for a while. Just have, don't go into it. So what do I have to cheer me up for short stints? This song. This song is so darn happy. Used as the closing theme to TomSka's asdfmovie5, it can be bought if you want the happy to be with you always. I just imagine someone doing a goofy high step walk down the street to the beat of this music, as it plays in the background, Ministry of Silly Walks style. If that doesn't make a smile creep to you, I don't know what will.

Music Monday: “A Tiny Spaceship’s Final Mission” by FantomenK
The Chiptune ninja FantomenK (literally, he's a ninja. A hoodie ninja at that) smoke bombed this new track onto the interwebs of a tiny spaceship's final mission. This one's got a little more traditional electrohouse flair in there in the beat, but the chips are still prevalent. I know I want to play this next time I play Galaga and see how much it enhances the experience. So listen and prepare your own tiny spaceship for your mission. That sounded better in my head.

Music Monday: Marseille by octapus
It's Monday which means more chip and blippy goodness coming at you because this track has been constantly playing on my iPod when it's in my ears. It's by an artist named octapus out in Sweden. It was one of those bopping around on Soundcloud (where I've found a LOT of really awesome chiptune stuff) and was an immediate download. It's got that high intensity stuff out of the gate and breaks down almost into a close to wubless dubstep breakdown in the middle. Though many would think that wubless dubstep is the saddest, the break down really sets it apart. So listen and rock out.

Music…uh…Tuesday: MegaAir by Pixel8ter
So I delayed Music Monday because of the special premier that happened yesterday. I gotta do my part to keep promotion going, even if it's shutting up for a bit. But this came late Monday night and I totally had to pass it along. This one came to my consciousness originally from the Chip Beat netlabel known as GameChops, founded by one of my favorite DJs, and multi-time Music Monday showcase, DJ Cutman. This particular track was made by "child of the 8-Bit Generation" Pixel8ter, cutting and slicing the Air Man's level music from Mega Man 2 into this Drum and Bass Chiptune beat. If you check out his Soundcloud, there's also a really awesome dubstepish chiptuneish remix of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" along with some other chiptune goodness. Listen and feel like shooting a Mega Buster repeatedly into your desk fan.

Music Monday: Kavinsky – Nightcall (Scattle 8-Bit Remix)
Seeing everyone ever seems to be going to E3 today, might as well give some Driving music. Of course, we've gotta do it in our own Chiptuney way. So today we'll feature a covery of Kavinsky's "Nightcall" by chiptune (among other things) artist Scattle. Why is this travel music? Because the song was featured on the soundtrack to the film "Drive". A stretch I know, but it's what you got.
